What are “non-mounted activities”?

Therapeutic horseback riding is the bread and butter of our Barn Buddies program! However, a typical session includes 15-30 minutes of “non-mounted activities”. These activities often include education or interaction with our other barnyard animals. We also have a cabinet of games and activities like chalk and bubbles!

Our mission at Justin’s Place is to bring peace and joy to each participant we serve. Having a dedicated adult to play with a child in whatever way they wish, can bring SO much joy! I often wonder if kiddos get the chance during their week to play freely and imaginatively for any extended amount of time without an adult giving directions or interfering. As adult’s is our job, but at Justin’s Place we train our volunteers to really let the participant take the lead. If they want to throw rocks into the pond for 30 minutes, that’s what we will do! If they want to lay in grass and watch a bug, that’s what we’ll do! If they want to karate chop bubbles, that’s what we’ll do!
