Did you know we have a horse appreciation program?!

Our horses work SO hard!! They get pulled from their paddock 2-5 times per week for training or to work in lessons. Horses can burnout just like our volunteer or staff can. It’s so important that we listen to their body language just like we do for our participants. Each horse has a different “care plan” that can include farrier work, feed, supplements, massage therapy, ground and under saddle training and 1 day per week for “horse appreciation”. What is that?! (You might ask). Great Question!!

Horse appreciation is a program pairing dedicated volunteers with an equine match. They get pulled from their paddock but not to work… do only do what they love most! These activities can include hand grazing on fresh grass, grooming, stretches or scratches they enjoy, hand walking, trail rides, or time on our TheraPlate. Each horse gets a no pressure hour to just enjoy themselves with their favorite volunteer- no expectations or work involved!
