2021 Featured Volunteer of July - Sarah

My name is Sarah Olson and I have been volunteering at Justin’s Place since they launched their Barn Buddies program in early 2020. When I’m not at the farm, I work in academic publishing. I mainly act as a sidewalker to ensure that our kids stay safely mounted on their horses and help facilitate other equine-assisted/learning activities. I love seeing the participants excited to try something new that seemed intimidating just a month or two before, and that the kids are encouraged to take part in planning their own sessions. Forming bonds with these amazing kiddos and watching them grow and thrive has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I am so grateful to be a small part of this exceptional group of kids, horses, and volunteers!
