Barnyard Improvements

One of the reasons we minimize programming during summer is so that we can work on our facility improvements! So far this summer, we have painted our new sheds, laid weed barrier and new mulch in our garden, remade our walkways in the play yard, added more blacktop and added fencing in our barnyard!! Whew! We’ve been busy!!

The center isle of our barnyard has continued to have water run off issues, causing our gravel flooring to move and make our gates unable to fully open. By removing the existing fence for this area and putting down blacktop, we are preventing further issues! This new blacktop is much less maintenance for our staff, provides an easy to clean surface, and more area for activities like chalk!! We had the idea to add two supplemental fences beyond the existing fence for programming spaces.

This proved to be an excellent addition for our morning riding camp! These tiny paddocks made for great space for kiddos to engage with our barnyard animals and for our animals to do some exploring and grazing! It is so important for children to be able to run freely without risk of elopement or escalating behaviors by having to hold onto their hands. These spaces make for a positive experience for our kids each week!
